Fellow and associate membership

Fellow membership

Fellow membership is offered to those individuals certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Fellows may display the AAD Fellow logo and designate themselves as Fellows of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD) in promotion materials and elsewhere.

Associate membership

The Associate membership category is for individuals who are eligible to take the American Board of Dermatology or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certifying examination(s) in dermatology.

If you are planning to take the next Board examination(s) following your application for membership, your applicant membership status would be Associate. Applicants for Associate membership will receive an automatic change of status to Fellow following receipt of the listing of physicians who have successfully completed the American Board of Dermatology and/or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examination(s) in dermatology.

NOTE: U.S. and Canadian dermatologists who are continuing training in a U.S. or Canadian fellowship program should not apply for membership. Have the program director contact the AAD so you may continue to receive a complimentary Graduate Membership. Your complimentary graduate member status will continue through completion of your fellowship training.
