AAD Volunteer Recognition Program

The AAD Volunteer Recognition program was designed to encourage volunteerism and recognize those who make the commitment to give back to the field of dermatology.

If you have been involved in volunteer efforts in the United States and/or abroad, the Academy is interested in knowing about your activities. Please provide us with information regarding your non-compensated volunteer efforts, the nature of the volunteer work and the number of hours in the past three years spent volunteering. Log your hours using our online form.

Logging your hours supports the Academy's efforts to enhance the image of the specialty by promoting your dedication to helping patients, communities and the profession.

Wear it with pride!

In recognition of being a member of the Volunteer Recognition program, you will receive a lapel pin to wear at AAD meetings for recognition.

Levels of recognition

There are three levels of recognition in the Volunteer Recognition program. Levels of recognition are based on hours of service and are calculated annually. Total hours are cumulative. Recognition levels are:

  • Gold: 1000+ hours
  • Silver: 500-999 hours
  • Bronze: 100-499 hours

Members Making a Difference award

The Members Making a Difference award is the highest honor a volunteer can receive in the AAD's Volunteer Recognition program. One award is given each month and the winner is profiled in Dermatology World. Award-winners are chosen based on the significance of the work they have done and category of service.
