Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Diagnose photodermatoses more effectively
  • Describe how patient advocacy can be used to improve research, teaching and service improvement in photodermatology
  • Select the best treatments for photosensitive patients

Description:
This session will focus on individual case studies to illustrate how to diagnose photodermatoses more effectively, and how to select the best treatments. It will also consider how patient advocacy can be used to improve our understanding of the photodermatoses through improved teaching, research and clinical service provision. The session will be interactive, with discussion of cases that reflect the real world in which clinical dermatology takes place. Recent advances in our understanding of photosensitivity conditions will be highlighted to help residents and practicing dermatologists to keep up-to-date and utilize this knowledge to improve the care of their own patients.
