Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Recognize the histologic features of common dermatoses.
  • Identify characteristics that differentiate common dermatoses
  • Diagnose skin diseases more effectively

Description:
This session will provide an overview of the microscopic diagnosis of inflammatory skin diseases, and is directed to practicing dermatologists as well as residents in training. Emphasis will be placed on pattern analysis. Criteria used to establish a diagnosis and to differentiate from other similar appearing dermatoses will be reviewed. Topics include but are not limited to: dermatitis, vasculitis, alopecia, infectious disease, autoimmune bullous disease, panniculitis, and connective tissue disease.
