  • Recognize appropriate, inappropriate and uncertain indications for Mohs surgery based on current data.
  • Develop skills to assess individual patient and tumor characteristics such as location, size, and type to delineate situations when Mohs surgery is considered an appropriate treatment option.

Description:
This session will provide an overview of the Academy’s first Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) and its recommendations for use of Mohs surgery in the treatment of skin cancer. The session will be helpful in expanding physician knowledge around the use of or referral for Mohs surgery and highlight patient and tumor characteristics where the benefit is most widely accepted. It will be structured in a question-and-answer format with emphasis placed on application to current clinical practice. A short survey will be conducted before and after the session, and a follow-up survey six months later to evaluate the utility of AUC in practice and the helpfulness of AUC-based implementation tools.
