Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Discuss the differential diagnosis of challenging potentially emergent pediatric dermatology cases
  • Develop a plan of action for evaluation and management of pediatric dermatology emergencies
  • Utilize pediatric resources in their respective communities to intervene urgently for patients

Description:
During this session the attendee will be called upon to evaluate challenging pediatric dermatology cases which require urgent intervention to prevent significant morbidity or mortality. The moderator will emphasize the need for rapid development of a differential diagnosis and utilization of multidisciplinary pediatric medical resources to manage these children. The session will focus on urgent issues in newborns, infants, and young children including infectious diseases, benign and malignant tumors, vasculitic disorders, and child maltreatment syndrome.
