Subject:

Date: Friday, March 21

CME Credits: 1.50

Location: Room 201

Time: 7:15 AM - 8:45 AM

Director: Paola Pasquali, MD - Handout

Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Identify old and new concepts in cryobiology
  • Select the appropriate cryosurgical technique to guarantee better cure rates and cosmetic results
  • Recognize his/her own limits: how far he/she can go with cryosurgery

Description:
This session will deal one-on-one with the most widely used dermatological techniques involving cryosurgery. Basic concepts of tissue destruction with cold will be presented. We will discuss the why and when in choosing this technique over other surgical options. We will also discuss old and new equipment available, proper selection of conditions, and locations and techniques that guarantee best cure rates and cosmetic results. Emphasis will finally be put on how far we can go and how imaging technology (dermoscopy, high frequency ultrasound, confocal microscopy) can help us go even further.
