Reforming Medicare: The Road Ahead for Primary and Specialty Care in the United States with Anand Shah, MD, physician and health policy expert

Physician leader and health policy expert Anand Shah, MD

Anand Shah, M.D. is the CEO of Aster Insights, the leading provider of scientific and clinical intelligence for oncology discovery. He is also an Operating Advisor at global private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier and Rice, where he focuses on the health care and pharmaceutical services sectors.

Dr. Shah was previously the Deputy Commissioner for Medical and Scientific Affairs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, where he led the development for fit-for-purpose programs including Advanced Manufacturing, the Coronavirus Treatment Acceleration Program, and COVID vaccine development. He previously served in two senior leadership roles at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. As Senior Medical Advisor, he was the primary counselor for agency-wide policy related to medical and scientific innovation. As the Chief Medical Officer of the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation, Dr. Shah led the clinical design of novel value-based payment and service delivery models, including those for primary and specialty care. He concurrently earned his MD from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.P.H. in health care management and policy from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Shah graduated with honors from Duke University with a degree in economics.

Political election expert Nathan Gonzales

Nathan Gonzales is the editor and publisher of Inside Elections, which provides nonpartisan analysis of campaigns for Senate, House, governor, and president. He is also the co-host of the Inside Elections Podcast and an Elections Analyst for CQ Roll Call. Mr. Gonzales tackles elections in a nonpartisan, data-driven, and accessible way and offers audiences some of the most detailed electoral forecasting in the business. Drawing from personal candidate interviews and more than 20 years covering campaigns, Mr. Gonzales combines entertaining anecdotes with historical trends and current polling data to project which candidates are best positioned to win and which party is most likely to gain control. On Election Night 2016, Mr. Gonzales was an on-air analyst for Newshour after working as an off-air consultant for ABC News on their Election Night Decision Desk for 14 years. Previously, he was an editor, analyst, and writer for The Rothenberg Political Report and worked for CNN as a political analyst and associate producer for Capital Gang.
