Pressing dermatology’s agenda in the nation’s capital
Every year, dermatologists and patient advocates come to Washington, D.C., to learn about and participate in the advocacy process by visiting with federal lawmakers. During the annual AADA Legislative Conference, held on Sept. 10-12, 2023, almost 200 attendees urged Congress to:
- Address the systemic issues within the Medicare physician payment system and safeguard physicians’ ability to provide patient access to care by passing legislation to tie Medicare payments to inflation.
- Implement step therapy reforms that will improve patient access to treatments and keep you as the ultimate decisionmaker in patient care.
We had 129 fellows attend the 2023 conference with 41 graduate AADA members, five Association of Dermatology Administrators and Managers members, four patient advocates, two state society executives, and one American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Association staffer.
The AADA Legislative Conference is a critical way for the AADA and its members to bring issues important to you and the specialty center stage by meeting with your congressional offices. The conference is built around our longstanding and current policy issues that arise throughout the year and gives you a chance to advocate on behalf of your colleagues and patients. Your collective voice can help move the needle at local, state, and federal levels.
