Your Dermatologist Knows continues strong social media performance

The social media element of the Your Dermatologist Knows strategy continued its success in the summer of 2024.

The Academy’s social media team works with the social media correspondents and several social media ambassadors to generate and distribute paid and organic content on the AAD’s Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, and TikTok accounts, as well as paid content on Snapchat. The content is targeted toward women aged 25 – 35, the target demographic of the Your Dermatologist Knows strategy.

Highlights of the past few months of social media content include:

  • The introduction of two new social media correspondents, Samatha Karlin, MD, FAAD, and Amit Om, MD, FAAD;

  • Coverage of relevant, trending topics on social media, such as an FDA alert on at-home chemical peels, and a series that addressed skin cancer and sunscreen misconceptions;

  • Highlights of awareness months, including Acne Awareness Month, Hair Loss Awareness Month, and Psoriasis Awareness Month, to bring attention to these conditions that dermatologists regularly treat.

In total, Your Dermatologist Knows-related social media content generated 84.2 million impressions, 11.8 million engagements, and nearly 200,000 clicks this summer. Be sure to follow the AAD’s social media accounts and share the content with your own followers!
