Your Dermatologist Knows see major traditional media successes

Hero for Your Dermatologist Knows traditional media wins 2024

As the success of Your Dermatologist Knows continues into its third year, so too do the efforts of the Academy’s media relations team to spread the word about the knowledge and expertise that only a board-certified dermatologist has on skin, hair, and nail conditions.

This summer, the Academy successfully pitched a variety of dermatology-related stories to media outlets across the country, resulting in 7,300 placements in print, TV, and online outlets with a reach of at least 100,000 people.

Of those placements, 128 were in high-profile publications, including stories about:

  • Sunscreen myths, misconceptions, and the dangers of homemade sunscreen, which ran in the LA Times, HuffPost, and over 200 other news outlets, and showcased dermatologists’ expertise in sun protection and skin cancer prevention.

  • The Academy’s news release on hyperhidrosis which was featured in a U.S. News & World Report article that emphasized when patients should see a board-certified dermatologist for excessive sweating.

  • Whether nail polish can have adverse effects on your nails, which ran in the New York Times and highlighted the expertise of board-certified dermatologists in providing nail care recommendations.

Traditional media placements that showcase dermatologists’ expertise to a wide audience will continue to be a key focus of the Your Dermatologist Knows strategy.
