AAD publishes two new Skin Healthy issues to inform your patients

Spring, winter editions were full of useful tips.
Two new issues of skin healthy, the Academy’s public-facing magazine, were published in 2024. AAD members received 50 copies of each of the spring and winter issues to place in their waiting rooms for patients to read.
The summer issue featured a variety of topics, including facial mask dos and don’ts, sunburn treatment, vitiligo wellness tips, what the color of your nails could reveal about your health, and more. In addition, for the first time, the spring issue of skin healthy included sidebars containing additional information on the topic being discussed in the article. This two-pronged approach gave patients a primer on skin, hair, and nail conditions alongside actionable tips that position dermatologists as the experts and help raise awareness of the specialty and the vastness of what it treats.
The spring issue also included two infographics showing patients how to spot skin cancer and how to reduce eczema flares with moisturizer.
The winter issue’s topics included tricks to relieve itchy psoriasis, expert tips to conquer acne, how to manage contact dermatitis, a primer on impetigo and other contagious skin conditions, and more. It also featured an article on Camp Discovery, aimed at raising awareness of Camp, sharing patient and parent stories, and encouraging parents to talk with their child’s dermatologist about getting referred to camp.
In addition, the winter issue included articles on popular cosmetic topics such as tattoo removal, scalp care, and skin care at any age, as well as an infographic on when to throw away makeup. In total, 38 members were featured in articles across the two issues. Be sure to put out your issues of skin healthy today and be on the lookout for new issues this year!
