AAD Cochrane Scholarship

This award program is founded on the goal of expanding the training in — and reach of — evidence-based medicine in dermatology.

Award: Two annual AAD Cochrane Scholars will be chosen to receive a travel grant to attend the GIN 2025 Conference and develop a systematic review on a topic that supports AAD Clinical Guideline development. The Clinical Guidelines Committee will provide the topics for the systematic review based on current priorities. This year, scholars will be able to choose whether to conduct their systematic review on a topic related to melanoma or hidradenitis suppurativa. These efforts will support AAD clinical guideline development or update and highlight areas for future dermatologic research.

Each scholar will serve as a second reviewer for their co-awardee’s literature search. The scholar will ultimately prepare and submit a publication-quality systematic review for consideration of publication in the JAAD. The review should be completed within 12-18 months following the GIN 2025 Conference. Prior recipients have contributed significantly to the AAD Clinical Guidelines Committee and have had the opportunity to pursue leadership opportunities.

Successful applicants often have had experience conducting systematic reviews. However, anyone with an interest in learning how to complete one is invited to apply.

Date and location: The GIN 2025 Conference will be held Sept. 16-19, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland.

Applications are being accepted July 8 to Sept. 20, 2024 for travel to the GIN 2025 Conference.

For questions or more information, please contact Sameer Malik at smalik@aad.org.
