Doreen’s personal story

She had a mole on her left ankle that was very small. She had it removed and the dermatogist said it was pre-cancerous. She was to come back in six months for a check up. Before the six months was up, Jen came over to do laundry and had what looked like a bug bite on her back. Well in a week it became bigger and when she went to the derm a week or so later it was the size of a half dollar. They sent a sample to be tested. It came back that she had melanoma. We found out after scans and MRIs that Jen had brain metastasis, one in each lung, stage IV.
Jen was a loving person, always so giving and concerned for others. She was having a bad day, just very scared and confused about what was going to happen. She asked God what is my purpose in life and heard him say, "To save others."
I believed till the day she passed that God was going to spare her life. But 11 months after she was diagnosed, she passed away at our home.
She started a book to bring awareness to others, which I promised I would finish if she didn't make it.
Please, if you are reading this story know that tanning and unprotected sun exposure does cause melanoma and it can take your life. Jen would love it if someone read her story and was saved from ever having to deal with this aggressive cancer.
