These frequently asked questions provide participants and supporters of Skin Cancer, Take a Hike!™ with more information about the campaign.

Q. Where do the funds go?
A. It is estimated that 32 people die from skin cancer every day in the U.S. Net proceeds from Skin Cancer, Take a Hike!™ help provide access to life-saving skin cancer screenings, permanent outdoor shade structures for children, and education and awareness on how to prevent and detect skin cancer. Prevention and early detection are key in reducing skin cancer deaths.

Q. Is my donation tax-deductible?
A. American Academy of Dermatology Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization under the Internal Revenue Code. All donations are therefore tax-deductible in accordance with IRS regulations and will be acknowledged as such. Please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We'll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.

Q. Is my online donation secure?
A. Yes. The security and confidentiality of your information is our highest priority. We use SSL (secure socket layer) technology to protect your information and provide a safe and secure environment for online donations. We will not sell, trade, or share your personal information with anyone else, nor send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations, and we will only share personal information if you have given us specific permission to do so.

Q. How do I fundraise?
A. Each registered participant for a Skin Cancer, Take a Hike!™ event will automatically receive an individual fundraising page online and login credentials. Participants then share this link with friends and family via email, text, social media, etc.

Our team of fundraising experts will also send you fundraising resources and guide you along the way. Whether you are a first-time participant or an experienced fundraiser, we have the tools to help make your campaign successful!
