This website is owned and operated by the American Academy of Dermatology (“Academy”) and the American Academy of Dermatology Association (“AADA”). For simplicity, all references below to the “Academy” are deemed to include both organizations unless otherwise indicated.
General Terms
By accessing or using any of the Academy’s website, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Use. Please read these Terms of Use carefully, as well as the Academy’s Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference. If you do not agree with these Terms of Use, you must immediately terminate use of the Academy website. These Terms of Use will take effect at the time you begin using the Academy website. The Academy reserves the right, with or without notice, at any time and for any reason to deny you access to the Academy website or any portion thereof, and to terminate these Terms of Use. If you violate any of these Terms of Use, your permission to use the website automatically terminates.

Many of the people featured in the photographs, videos, and other images shown on this website are taken from stock imagery or are professional models. They have no relation to the issues discussed.
When the Academy features a patient photo, the person shown in that photo has signed an agreement stating that their photo may be used for educational purposes.

The "Find a Dermatologist" and "Dermatologist Profile" databases (find-a-derm.aad.org) are produced by the Academy as references of professional information on individual dermatologists. They are intended to provide the public with quick access to information on dermatologists who are members of the Academy. Neither database, nor any of their data, listings, or other constituent elements may be downloaded, republished, or duplicated, in whole or in part, for commercial purposes, for purposes of compiling mailing lists or any other lists of dermatologists, or for any other purposes without the prior express written permission of the Academy.
Although the Academy warrants that it undertakes reasonable efforts to keep the information contained in its "Find a Dermatologist" and "Dermatologist Profile" databases accurate, the Academy does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose of the information contained in those databases, or in any way endorse the individuals described therein. The above warranty is the only warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including warranties of merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose, made by the Academy with respect to the "Find a Dermatologist" and "Dermatologist Profile" databases. In no event shall the Academy be liable for any decision made or action taken in reliance on the information contained therein.

Children
This website is not designed or intended to attract children under the age of 13, except for the section titled Good Skin Knowledge Youth Education Program. The Academy does not collect personal information from anyone it knows is under the age of 13. All other content on this site is intended for people 18 years of age or older. If you are under the age of 18, ask a parent or guardian for assistance using this site.
Information Security
The Academy implements security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure, or destruction of information. We restrict access to personal information to the Academy’s business partners who may need to know that information in order to operate, develop, or improve our services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline if they fail to meet these obligations.

Governing Law/Forum
You expressly agree that exclusive jurisdiction for any dispute with the Academy, or in any way relating to your use of the website, resides in the courts of the State of Illinois and you further agree and expressly consent to the exercise of personal jurisdiction in the courts of the State of Illinois in connection with any such dispute including any claim involving the website or the Academy or its affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, contractors, officers, directors, telecommunication providers, and content providers.
